Pastor Charles Mbatia gave his life to Christ in 1994 in one of the weekly meetings in Kayole. He became zealous with the things of God and after some years of discipleship he became an usher in the church. Before being sent to Pastor the Gatundu church, he had taken up leadership responsibilities as a deacon and an elder at the Kayole Church. His church in Gatundu has given birth to Wamwangi church and recently the Kajiado church which Dr. Wamutitu dedicated in December 2017.

From the Pastor’s Desk

God spoke to me and I started going to the Gatundu church after the then Pastor stepped down in 2005. At the time the church met in a temporary structure on a rented piece of land with a congregation of about 15 members.

I took up the leadership of the C.M.F. Gatundu Missions Center at a time when the C.M.F. leadership was contemplating closing down the branch due to the challenges at the time.

As usual with any beginning, the going was not easy. The church was languishing is debt and the members’ morale was at its lowest. My desire and passion for taking up the Gatundu church was not to be supported but to support the work of God. God spoke to me that Gatundu was a like a hard rock and for the ministry to break even, I was required to strike the hard rock many times. That is why I kept pressing on and trusting in God despite the challenges we were going through.

In the beginning, I used my own resources to support the church e.g. my car to ferry members from Kayole to Gatundu every Sunday. We came to an arrangement with the landlord to settle the rent arrears from the offerings we received every Sunday after the service until the entire debt was cleared.

In the year 2010, we were confronted with an insurmountable challenge when the landlord demanded that we buy the land in lump sum cash or we vacate from the land. We prayed and trusted God and later that year we acquired our own piece of land and erected a temporary structure. In 2017, we completed building a permanent church building.

C.M.F. Gatundu Missions Center has birthed two other churches in line with Rev. Dr. Joseph Wamutitu’s vision to use the local church as a Missions Center. We have the C.M.F. Wamwangi under Pastor Joseph Kariuki and most recently Dr. Joe Wamutitu dedicated the Kajiado church under Pastor Peter Otieno in December 2017.

C.M.F. Gatundu Missions Center intends to purchase more adjacent land for church expansion as we continue with evangelism, outreach ministry and the propagation of the gospel of Jesus Christ under the visions of Rev. Dr. Joseph Wamutitu of “Worldwide Evangelism through the local church as a missions center”.
