Christian Missions Fellowship

CMF was initiated in 1993 with a view to launching a worldwide evangelistic campaign through the local church as the mission centre. This worldwide initiative started in a goat-shed called Kaunda Kiosk with an initial membership of 25 members. Within a short while the goat shed was bursting on its seams due to rapid growth. In 1996 the ministry moved to its current modern cathedral where the congregation has since grown to about 700 members.

Rev. Joseph Wamutitu, the Presiding Bishop of CMF left the comfort of a well paid secular job with all its trappings to venture into the arena of preaching the gospel. Having preached all his secondary school and university life an urge to win souls for Jesus precipitated inception of Christian Missions Fellowship even when better economic prospects beckoned him. A holder of a Bachelor of Commerce degree, he plunged into the preaching arena with the sole aim of answering the call that God had clearly given him.

Being a go-getter, focused and ambitious the gospel arena presented a more formidable challenge worth pursuing. For effective ministry Rev. Joseph Wamutitu joined Fuller Theological Seminary in United states of America where he is due to graduate with a PhD in Missions Studies this year. Though the task of preaching has not been without challenges, to see its changing effect produce positive results to those who have come into contact with it has been more than satisfying.

The motivation clearly defined - to establish a centre for worldwide evangelism. Nairobi Missions Centre located in Kayole was the inaugural mission centre which also serves as the ministry headquarters. Several other missions' centers have been established. These include: Kasarani Missions Centre, Gatundu Missions Centre, Kahunguini Missions Centre and Laisamis Missions Centre. CMF is indeed causing positive impact wherever and whenever it has been called to task. The future is bright for this ministry and there are a host of opportunities for anyone out there who identifies with our vision.
