PASTOR PATRICK MUNGAI

Kasarani

C.M.F. Kasarani-Mwiki is led by Pastors Patrick and Jane Mungai. Prior to going to Mwiki, Pstor Patrick and Jane served as Youth Pastors in the Kayole Church. Pastor Patrick and Jane was the first couple that Dr. Joe wedded early in his Pastoral ministry. Pastor Mungai also serves in the C.M.F. National leadership as the National Treasurer.

THE PASTOR’S ACCOUNT

I started my ministry at C.M.F. as an usher in 1993. This was at the time when the church was just starting in Kayole. By the grace of God in 1995 my Pastor, Rev. Dr. Joseph Wamutitu promoted and appointed me to serve in the capacity of the Youth Pastor at C.M.F. Nairobi Missions Center.

In the Year 2004 when Pastor Kimani Ngure left, God put a burden in my heart for Kasarani. I felt that Pastor David Ndegwa should not be burdened with more responsibilities when I was there. By the grace of God, under the leadership of our Overseer, Rev. Dr. Joseph Wamutitu and the resident Pastor at C.M.F. Kayole, Pastor David Ndegwa, I was commissioned to take up the mantle of shepherding the congregation at C.M.F. Kasarani Missions Center.

The landing at C.M.F. Kasarani was not without its challenges. The church was used to their Pastor who was different in every way from myself. It was quite a challenge to the extent that some of the members left the church.

Besides the difficulty by some members of the congregation to adjust the new leadership, the church also had serious financial challenges and had fallen behind in rent and other financial obligations.

Another challenge was that Kasarani, is a semi-rural location bordering Kiambu and Nairobi Counties. This meant that a good number of the populace were indigenous and blood relatives and lived in their own ancestral land. These was a big challenge as all the family problems i.e. land disputes, inheritance, sibling squabbles and other issues often landed on the Pastor’s desk for arbitration.

Another challenge was that the locals were very limited in their perspective as most of them were semi-illiterate and could therefore only engage in informal economic ventures popularly known as “Jua Kali”. They did not believe they could amount to anything much.

By the grace of God, through the teaching of the word prayer and continuous encouragement, we have seen God raising our members to prominent business men and women over the years.

We also managed to settle all the debts we owed and turned around the situation to the extent that we acquired our own piece of land, through the generous contributions of the members led by our Overseer, Rev. Dr. Joseph Wamutitu who sold his own land to contribute to us and the C.M.F. Kayole church under Pastor David Ndegwa. As a Missions Center under the vision of our leader Reverend Dr. Joseph Wamutitu, of Worldwide Evangelism Through the Local Church as a Missions Center, C.M.F. Kasarani is now focusing on reaching the neighboring areas like Kamulu, Junction and beyond with the gospel.

As we join our overseer in rekindling the vision and dreaming bigger, C.M.F. Kasarani is focusing also on encouraging and nurturing talent especially in the young people. We aspire to empower our youths to take up responsibilities in every sphere of life but especially in Ministry.

We also have embarked on empowering in people living with disabilities. We are happy to note that one of us, has become a force to reckon with as evidence that “disability is not inability”.
